Diamond Head Crater

1.6 Mi/ 2.6KM (1-2 Hours)

Difficulty: Easy

Elevation: 760ft/ 230m

Time: 6AM-6PM (Entry closed at 4:30)

Fee: $1 Walk-in fee

Parking: $5 to park in the Crater.

What to expect: There is parking near the trailhead, however it does cost a $5 fee to park in their lot. The trail cuts back and forth up the crater toward the ridge. The first set of stairs leads into an old military tunnel, which then takes you through several old military operations rooms and finally to the pillbox on top of the ridge!

Once at the top there are beautiful views of Waikiki beach, the city of Honolulu, Diamond Head crater and the surrounding valleys. Great hike for the family, children and elders.

Tips: The sun beating down and the lack of shade can make this hike extremely hot midday. Going early in the morning helps avoid heat and the large crowds.
